Medusa by Sophie Amieva Theater Company

“You only have to look at the Medusa straight on to see her. And she’s not deadly. She’s beautiful and she’s laughing.”
-Helene Cixious' Manifesto

Medusa was a young maiden, a servant of god, turned into the monster we know because she was raped by Poseidon. Reading Ovid’s version triggered images and emotions about her isolation and the slow loss of her humanity. From Salome to Eve, how do we define a woman’s ascent to pleasure and orgasm? To be feminist, do we need to redefine sexuality as a whole? Today, can we look Medusa in the eyes? This new theatrical piece by Sophie Amieva, inspired by Medusa’s story, is about women and the stories of their bodies and pleasures. Join us at happylucky no.1 for *four performances only*!
