We are excited to announce an upcoming panel discussion here at happylucky no.1. Entitled In Search of Shelter, this talk will be a dialogue about what shelter meant, what it means today, the psychological relationship to shelter, and what needs to change on a systemic and cultural level to achieve housing equality. We are bringing individuals together who are working around these issues on both at a macro and micro level to provide insight into our own neighborhood of Crown Heights and beyond.
This panel is presented in conjunction with our exhibition Home as Shelter, and will take place at 734 Nostrand Avenue at 4PM on Sunday, April 14th. Admission is free and open to the public. Our moderator will be Jo Confino, an executive editor at the Huffington Post. Some of our other panelists featured will be artists from our exhibition, including Capucine Bourcart, Liz Sweibel and Paz Perlman. Our other panel members will include Lisa Schubert, Vice President for Cathedral Programming & External Relations at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in New York, Bhante Suddhāso of Buddhist Insights, and representatives of IMPACCT Brooklyn.
